We’re pleased to welcome Laura to the Live Oak Private Wealth team, where she will serve as Director of Client Relations. She will be a liaison and knowledgeable resource for all of our clients. Laura’s professional background and warm personality will be a true asset to our team, further enhancing the overall client experience at Live Oak Private Wealth.

Laura, tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? Where did you go to college?

I grew up just outside Philadelphia and graduated from Vanderbilt in 2005. After graduation, I moved to Washington, D.C. where I worked for a global investment firm. It was also in D.C. that I met my husband, Ryal, who is a native Wilmington resident. We lived in Charlottesville, VA and then Boston, where I worked for a multi-family office investment advisory firm. We then decided to head down south and settle here in Wilmington, where we’ve been for the past seven years. I took a few years off to focus on my two children and most recently worked for a Boston-based wealth management group. With the hopes of finding a local opportunity, Live Oak Private Wealth could not feel like a better fit and I am thrilled to join the team.

You’ve worked for other wealth management firms before – what’s your favorite part about this job?

My favorite part of this job is building and nurturing meaningful relationships with clients. This is more about managing their money – it is so important to create trust. I love helping people cultivate a lifestyle that they’ve worked so hard to earn. For me, this is a 24/7 job. I care deeply about the best interest of each and every client that we serve.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Someone once told me, “We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.” Listening to our clients’ needs and anticipating how we can support them is critical to this job. I also do my best to adhere to the “Golden Rule” of treating others as you would like to be treated – that’s a big part of how I operate.

What do you like to do outside of work? What are your hobbies?

I love to cook and try new recipes, and I’m getting back into tennis. I also have a deep love for travel and I’m happy to get back on the road post-COVID. However, with two young children, most of my free time is spent with my family, which is probably my most favorite.

What’s your ideal weekend in Wilmington look like?

It’s hard to beat a perfect beach or boat day here on the coast. I also love lazy Saturday and Sunday mornings with my family – after our busy weeks, we love to enjoy some downtime at home.
